overview

The Taconnaz run-of-river hydroelectric power plant has a capacity of 4.5 MW on the Taconnaz torrent in Haute-Savoie (France).

Once completed, the production of the Taconnaz hydroelectric power plant will provide for the annual electricity consumption of approximately 4 800 households, covering nearly 90% of the population of the communes of Chamonix and Les Houches.

While most European glaciers are melting under the effect of global warming, the construction of a hydroelectric power plant at the foot of the Taconnaz glacier helps fight against these dysregulations by producing electricity without CO2 emissions.
