At the “Organabo” site in the municipality of Mana in French Guiana, 10,000 photovoltaic panels backed up by 10,000 kWh of electrical storage produce the equivalent of the renewable electricity needs of 6,400 Guyanese.

The installation of the solar panels and storage equipment on a 5- hectare site was subject to extensive environmental studies. The materials used were chosen for their adaptation to the tropical climate and will be reused or recycled once the photovoltaic plant has been in operation for at least 25 years.

French Guiana is the only continental non-interconnected zone (ZNI): all the others are islands. The territory is not connected to the grids of neighboring countries and operates in total autonomy.

Commissioned in 2023, the Sable Blanc Solar Hybrid power plant contributes to this autonomy, as well as to environmental protection and the ecological transition of French Guiana. The project received 570,000 euros in crowdfunding.
